As well as listing local recitals, I have attached flyers advertising two events outside our patch:
· The Grand Organ festival at Westminster Cathedral
· Organ 200 - celebrating 200 years since an organ was first installed at St. Peter’s Church, Dorchester
Recitals in September
Thursday 14 September, 1.10pm - St. Nicolas’ Church, Newbury.
Lunchtime recital by Stephen Holmes (St. Michael and All Angels’, Lambourn).
Admission free. Retiring collection.
Sunday 17 September, 4pm - St Mary's Church, Streatley.
Recital by Glynne Stackhouse. Refreshments afterwards in the Morrell Room. Tickets £10 on the door (including refreshments) in support of The Friends of St Mary's, Streatley
Monday 25 September, 1pm - Reading Town Hall.
Lunchtime Organ Recital by Marilyn Harper (Christ's Chapel, Dulwich). Tickets £5 in advance, or £6 on the door. For full programme and to book, please visit the Concert Hall website.
Inaugural Recital
Sunday 1 October, 7pm - Windsor Parish Church of St John the Baptist.
Opening recital by Thomas Trotter on the restored organ. Admission £10. Tickets available from the Windsor Festival website.
Heritage Day Event – Reading Town Hall
Saturday 16 September, 12 noon & 2pm - Reading Town Hall.
Organ Curator Dr. William McVicker explores the history and sounds of the internationally-renowned 'Father' Willis Organ. Find out how it works and listen to some stirring music. Afterwards, there will be a chance to try the instrument. Sessions last approximately one hour. Admission free. No need to book - just turn up.
Visit to Church Organ World
Julian is looking to organise a visit to play the digital organs at Church Organ World at Mixbury Farm near Brackley. Please let him know (click here) if you would be interested in going.
